With more to training than hitting the roads alone, there is much to learn from 100 Miles to 40. This book shares a great deal about the Western States Endurance Run that winds 100 miles over the Sierra Nevada Mountains along an old gold miner’s path. The greatest challenge includes racers being required to finish in only one day. Without the ability to stop or sleep, running strong for a straight and endless effort for a full day. This is much harder than anything that was presented in Forrest Gump’s running story throughout the movie.
No stopping. No sleeping. Runners work with a single pair of trail running shoes and the ability to ignore an unbelievable amount of pain. At night, it’s like running over Mount McKinley, alone, with blinders on. What will you do to remember your next birthday?
